Joe Murray
Joe is a founding partner of First Principles Strategies, LLC. He has worked in a wide array of legislative policy and leadership roles on Capitol Hill in both the United States Senate for Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and in the United States House of Representatives as Professional Policy Staffer with the Republican Study Committee under Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio and Steve Scalise of Louisiana. He also served for former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadow’s as Deputy Chief of Staff. Joe had a policy emphasis in judiciary, health care, entitlement reform, and campaign finance issues. He served as government affairs director of a national rare disease patient advocacy group and has consulted for human rights, medical device, dispute resolution/settlements, information governance/eDiscovery, early state biotech, and health care focused clients as well as serves as Of Counsel for Sextons Creek Government Affairs.
Joe has been a leader in a number of civic and political organizations including local, state, and national campaigns, a candidate for elective office for the Virginia General Assembly, and Chairman of Vice President of his neighborhood’s Home Owner’s Association Advisory Committee. He served as the 2017 Deacon Chairman of the Diaconate as well as a Sunday school teacher to Fourth Grade boys in his local church. Joe also served as a Specialist in the Virginia Defense Force, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s volunteer military organization whose mission is to assist the Virginia National Guard and was a State Senate appointee to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Disability Commission. Joe is a licensed attorney in Virginia, having earned his law degree from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC and his BA in Political Science (Economics minor) from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
He and his wife, Katie, reside in Northern Virginia and are proud parents of three young children, Ella, AJ, and Maggie Jo.
